The invasion of Israel that began on October 7 will forever define a generation of Israelis and Jews that had hoped that wars and pogroms against our people were consigned to history. More Israelis were murdered in the first 24-hours of this onslaught than in the first few days of the Yom Kippur War or the entirety of the Six Day War.

Leaders of Israel’s financial and high-tech community have come together to raise funds and allocate them to existing non-profit organizations and new humanitarian efforts operating in the field. We are doing so in conjunction with Merit Spread Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization which was established to channel philanthropy to humanitarian needs in Israel as a donor advised fund. Merit has established a separate channel and bank account for this initiative known as “High Tech for Israel” which will be managed by Ziv Kop, Neta Zwebner, Eynat Guez, Erez Shahar, Liad Agmon, Gigi Levy-Weiss, Nir Zohar and Adam Fisher.

Unlike the wars of recent memory, it was Israeli civilians that bore the brunt of the invasion with more than a hundred kidnapped, including women and children. Entire towns have been annihilated with multiple generations of the same families slaughtered. The nation is not only reeling from the immense loss of life but from a shattered sense of security and the anguish that accompanies it. But the tide will turn.

Over the last 72 hours, hundreds of thousands of reservists have been mobilized to defend our country in the field and on the home front, leaving their work and families in haste. And across the country, hundreds of thousands of others have self-mobilized to respond to a humanitarian crisis that is unprecedented in scope and scale. In the shadow of missile alerts, these volunteers have similarly left their homes and work to operate logistics centers and run distribution efforts; to manage the procurement of food, medicine, clothing and other vital supplies; to join existing established humanitarian organizations and hospitals, and to provide temporary housing and psychological treatment to the wounded, bereaved and displaced.

The country is united in its defense and a new esprit de corps has energized the home front. But we can’t do it alone. The country urgently needs your financial assistance in this exceptional time of need.
